PAWLETT VILLAGE PLAYGROUP

Registered Charity No:  1030309

WELCOME

On behalf of all the staff and the committee we would like to welcome you to the Pawlett Village Playgroup.

OUR OBJECTIVES

Our aim is to provide high quality care and a  carefully structured environment.  We work in partnership with parents  to help the children learn and develop. The staff provide structured activities alongside the free-play activities on a daily basis.  All activities are planned in accordance with the six areas of development as recommended by the early years guidelines.

THE SIX AREAS OF LEARNING IN THE FOUNDATION STAGE

1. Personal, social and emotional development

2. Communication, language and literacy

3. Problem solving, reasoning & numeracy

4. Knowledge and understanding of the world

5. Physical development

6. Creative development

These six areas of learning lead to children achieving the early learning goals by the end of the foundation stage which is from birth to the end of reception year at school.

Pawlett Village Playgroup is a charitable organisation run by an elected committee made up of parents/carers and local residents with an interest in the playgroup.  Should you wish to join our committee and play a more active role in your child’s pre-school education, please see the noticeboard for our Committee booklet and details on our next meeting. We take pride in ensuring that we have quality staff who enjoy their roles.

KEY WORKER SYSTEM

Our Playgroup has a key worker system.  This means that each child will have a key worker assigned to look after their particular needs and interests throughout their time at Playgroup.  Your key worker will be there to provide parents with knowledge of their child’s development and answer any questions that may arise.

ADMISSION

Our Playgroup is very committed to providing a fair and open admission system that offers a competitively priced and good value service.  We aim to make Pawlett Village Playgroup accessible to children and families from all sections of the local community. Please refer to our policies and procedures manual for full details.

SETTLING IN

The earliest a child can be admitted is 2 years old.  You will be invited to come along to our playgroup for a visit, where we hope you will stay with your child for the morning.  This is the perfect chance to meet the staff, along with the other children, and see for yourself how the Playgroup is run. This also gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

To ensure your child has a happy time with us, we support a gradual settling in period.  We do this by ensuring each and every child is settled in a way which suits them and their parents.  Some parents feel they would prefer to stay with their child for a short period initially, others prefer to go.  Staff are always there to give advice but the choice is yours.

You will be asked to stay for your child’s first session to complete a starting pack with the Playgroup Supervisor or your key worker.  This is to ensure we have all the required information.

COLLECTING YOUR CHILD

We do understand that due to unforeseen circumstances, you may not get to pick up your child on time.  As an emergency system, we will ask parents / carers for a password in a sealed envelope that will be kept on Playgroup premises.  If you cannot pick up your child, you can tell someone else your password and then they can pick up your child for you.  In this instance please contact the playgroup to make sure that they are aware of the arrangements you have made.

PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT

Here at our Playgroup we welcome help from the parents during our sessions.  Helping at the session enables you to see what the day-to-day life of the Playgroup is like and to join in helping the children to get the best of their activities.   Staff will     advise you as to what is  required on the day.  There is often a parent rota on the wall in the foyer, to which you can add your name if you would like to help.

We are delighted you have chosen to look at our Playgroup.  We are very proud of our group and its achievements and welcome new families at any time.  If there is anything else you would like to know or need help with, while making your decision, please feel free to contact us.

We look forward to hearing from you!
